RE: Tekonsha P3 Question

I just researched the same exact issue to buy my first brake controller. I decided to get the P3 because it was newer, highly recommended, and had more options. I just recently installed it and noticed several differences which made it well worth the extra $20 or so: - The controls are all mounted on the front vertical face, not the top or side of the case. This is important to me since I mounted it in a recessed dash compartment that limits access to the side and top of the controller. If I had selected a model with thumb wheels or controls on the top then I would have been limited in my choice of mounting locations and methods. - You can change the display contrast, brightness, and color. Sounds like a minor difference until you are towing for 10-12 hours at a clip and then you have a hideous bright orange light in your peripheral vision the entire way. With the P3 I was able to change the display color to match my vehicle dash lights and adjust it for perfect viewing without being too bright or distracting. - It came with several mounting brackets and options including a quick-disconnect bracket which made it quite easy to mount securely and install or remove quickly. Some other units only have one bracket and this could limit your mounting locations. I paid $119 for my P3 which included free shipping and no tax. The ebay seller was "gobatelli" and this is the link to their store. Good luck! Be sure to mount the P3 level as the instructions direct. http://im1.shutterfly.com/procgtaserv/47b8dc37b3127cce98548b1b9ec100000016108AcOWLZuzbOb

RE: Tekonsha P3 Question

I have towed with both and currently use a P3 on my new truck rather than the Ford factory controller. The only difference is that the P3 gives you the option to tow with electric over hydraulic brakes. I would spring for the few extra dollars and go with the P3.

RE: Urban Legends

This a bogus urban legend disproved many times. Not so far fetched anymore though. I thought it was bogus. Did you see the one about Congress bailing out Wall street? Like, Dah! Who is going to believe that one? :)

Urban Legends

Sometimes true facts are a lot stranger.. This year's runaway First Place Stella Award winner was Mrs. Merv Grazinski, of Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , who purchased a new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On her first trip home, from an OU football game, having driven on to the freeway, she set the cruise control at 70 mph and calmly left the driver's seat to go to the back of the Winnebago to make herself a sandwich. Not surprisingly, the motor home left the freeway, crashed and overturned. Also not surprisingly, Mrs. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not putting in the owner's manual that she couldn't actually leave the driver's seat while the cruise control was set . The Oklahoma jury awarded her, are you sitting down, $1,750,000 PLUS a new motor home. Winnebago actually changed their manuals as a result of this suit, just incase Mrs. Grazinski has any relatives who might also buy a motor home.

RE: Looking for advice....

I think you should take a close look at the KZ hauler. We are on our second one and the Company is second to none. If you are going to spend any amount of time in the unit the little nice things add up, especially if you are traveling with a woman. They are heavier and do cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. Regardless of which unit you chose upgrade the tires to "G" rated tires and spring for the disk brakes, both are good investments. Good hunting!

RE: I'm confused on my 50amp, please help

First, all you need to do is use an adapter to be able to plug your trailer into the 30amp socket. Your unit most likely came with one, if not you can get one at the local RV supply or Walmart. You will not be able to run all of the trailers accessories when using the 30AMP. Here is a great informational site. It will answer a lot of your questions. Hope this helps you. rvelectric

RE: Best Route from Santa Fe to Mesa Verde

What about from Taos to Chama? I follow cruiserjs's directions from Chama and prefer to go through Durango rather than take 64 westward, but I have conflicting reports on using 64 from Taos to Chama. But following the route using Google Earth, it does not appear to be too bad. I have plenty of power, but no exhaust brake. Would I be ill advised to take 64 rom Taos to Chama? Another opinion, please. I have used 64 From Taos to Chama. I was towing a big toyhauler and did not have any issue. It was a nice ride.

RE: refrigerator side vent- pest control?

Same exact problem I had. Pesky dang things. We call 'em dirt daubers. Do keep the spiders under control, though. Go to Lowe's or HD and get some fiberglass window screening, which is very flexible. Then hot glue it to the back side of your panels, covering the vent slots. Problem solved. Mine's been holding for over two years now. Great idea, thanks!

RE: Looking for Beautiful Northeast campground

In NH check out Danforth Bay,Moose Hillock, both with heated pools or Fransted family CG. All are within the White Mountains and in particular Mt.Washington. Not sure if the Auto road up will still be open though. Nearby Cannon Mountain Tramway offers a nice ride up the mountain with great views. Also nearby are Clarks Trading Post,Santas Village and Story Land. All nice places that are very appropriate for your kids. Even the young'un. Do a net search for the places I suggested. Any question just ask me and I will help you out. I second Danforth Bay.

RE: Campground GPS Coordinates

I wish one of the publications would list CG coords but then again, they'd only list those CGs and not all of them. Better yet, if CG would place a gpx download on their website, then you could easily upload it with all of the info. Here is a site where you put in the address and it gives you the coordinates. You could load multiple addresses if desired. gpsvisualizer

RE: 08 F 450 ?s

It's the best in it's class!! Talk to the people who own one and ignore everyone else. Radiators have been an issue and Ford is replacing them under warranty. I would buy another.

RE: Towing in the Rain

I would take a hose and spray it from the outside and have someone watch where it is coming in. You should not be getting water in the unit.
